HARASSMENT POLICY

Heat Wave is committed to creating and maintaining a positive and healthy atmosphere for every constituent who participates in our programs including but not limited to Members, Staff, and Volunteers. Heat Wave takes harassment and misconduct of any form extremely serious and continually looks to ensure the very best practices are in place for everyone involved in our organization. Essential to this is an environment that is free from and form or threat of harassment. Harassment is a form of discrimination, and includes and conduct that adversely effects a positive working and learning environment, including but not limited to actions or comments that are sexual in nature, violence or threatening violence, hazing, or demeaning, that the perpetrator knew, or reasonable should have known, would be unwelcome. Harassment leads to adverse impacts on the person(s) experiencing harassment as well as those around them and negatively impacts the camaraderie we value.

Harassment can take many forms, but generally involves conduct, comments, or display that is insulting, intimidating, humiliating, hurtful, demeaning, belittling, malicious, degrading or otherwise causes offense, injury or potential injury, discomfort, personal humiliation or embarrassment to a person or group of persons.

Heat Wave expressly prohibits harassment of any kind under any and all circumstances.

WHISTLEBLOWER POLICY

Heat Wave requires directors, staff, volunteers, and members to observe high standards of business and personal ethics in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities. Staff and representatives of Heat Wave must practice honesty and integrity in fulfilling their responsibilities and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances.

While Heat Wave hopes that all those who come in contact with Heat Wave feel unhindered and unthreatened in raising concerns, complaints, and issues with Heat Wave, Heat Wave recognizes that it is essential to also provide for confidential and anonymous submission of such concerns, complaints, and issues, to ensure Heat Wave has full opportunity to investigate and address any potential violations of policy, lay, or ordinance in the conduct of Heat Wave's activities.
